Olympic Lifting

Beginning/Intermediate Olympic Weightlifting

This class will help develop the skills and strength to perform the snatch, the clean, and jerk. Appropriate for beginners looking for first-time instruction, as well intermediate lifters looking to improve their foundations with hands-on coaching and progressions of the Olympic Lifts. The class will also include progressive programming to improve strength specific to the Olympic Lifts and will span the length of the quarter. 3 sections, 8-week class, Beginner capped at 10 lifters, Intermediate capped at 14 lifters.

Platform and Olympic Lifting Etiquette & Safety Class

This 60-minute class will instruct participants on the rules and etiquette related to Olympic lifting at ACSR (341 Galvez). In addition to key safety procedures, brief technique evaluation and coaching tips are included. This class is required for anyone interested in using the Olympic lifting platforms. Upon completion of the class, an annual sticker is applied to your SU ID and allows holders to use the platforms for Olympic lifting.

Fee

$30 annual pass for each calendar year. Pass must be renewed annually. No prorating for the cost of the pass throughout the academic year.

For those who have taken the class in previous years and need to renew in order to receive the current sticker for their ID. Previous enrollment in a class is mandatory and will be checked.

Eligibility

Stanford students, Faculty/Staff and Stanford Community are eligible to participate in the Group Fitness Program. Stanford Community members are Dependents 18 and older, Spouses, Hospital Employees who have purchased an Athletic Access Card, Alums who have purchased an Alumni Membership, Retirees, or Partners of a Student, Faculty or Staff.
